Why I support UCLH: Andrew Gaylor

Andrew says thanks for his cancer treatment by playing the piano for current patients at UCLH

Since July 2017, visitors to the Cancer Centre have been enjoying the wonderful piano playing of Andrew Gaylor, a previous cancer patient at the hospital.

Having been a keen amateur pianist his whole life, Andrew had previously performed piano recitals at local care homes and hospices, but was forced to give this up when he became ill. “It has taken over a year of physiotherapy exercise to be able to play the piano again – but it’s been a great motivator!”

Andrew said, “UCLH has been fantastic. The huge team of staff involved in my treatment and recovery have been so kind and supportive that I wanted to do something positive and useful in return, so I offered to give piano recitals in the reception area at the Cancer Centre. Doing something like this has helped me to feel more positive about myself and my recovery, and I commit to as many performances as I can comfortably manage.”
