Becoming a major donor to UCLH Charity can be a rewarding way to create a lasting impact at UCLH, our leading research hospital which provides ground-breaking, world-class care for patients

With almost 10,000 staff and over one million patients attending each year, from across the UK, UCLH is a world class centre for excellence. The expert staff care for patients with injuries, illnesses and some of the rarest and most complex conditions in the world.

The demand for services is increasing.  This means the support of major donors is increasingly crucial for UCLH to provide the sort of therapeutic patient care and environment that is essential for the wellbeing, comfort and improved clinical outcomes of our patients.

Our current funding priorities are to:

  • invest in the latest equipment
  • fund cutting edge biomedical research
  • create state-of-theart facilities
  • provide a positive patient experience
  • support staff

A significant donation to UCLH can make all the difference. Whether you're a personal supporter or a charitable trust, please contact Gillian Reid, major donor manager, on 07870 805573 or via email at gillian.reid16@nhs.net for more information.

The Kusuma Trust

In 2022, we were delighted to have been awarded a £500,000 grant from The Kusuma Trust, to support the development of the stem cell department at UCLH in the new Grafton Way building.

Stem cell (or bone marrow) transplants are undertaken for patients diagnosed with forms of blood cancer. The process involves replacing damaged blood cells with healthy ones. Stem cells (or transplants) can also be used to treat conditions affecting the blood cells, such as leukaemia and lymphoma and immunodeficiencies.

The bone marrow transplant and haematopoietic stem cell transplant service at UCLH is the largest transplant centre in Europe, treating over 100 patients each year.   The average length of stay in hospital for an allogenic transplant is long - 39 days. The physical space in the new unit is of a very high standard, to give maximum protection and comfort to patients.

In recognition for such generous support from the Kusuma Trust, the stem cell wards on the third floor of the Grafton Way Building, are named the ‘Kusuma Stem Cell Unit’.
