In memory of her late father Paul, who received care at UCLH, Lynsey Wright has taken on a series of challenges to raise funds for UCLH Charity. She has previously run three half marathons (two of which she ran with her nephews Jack and Ellis) raising an impressive £3,334. ![]()
The TCS London Marathon on was next on her list, and her training was all going to plan until an unexpected setback. Just six weeks before race day, Lynsey sustained a serious injury: a broken hip. The same happened in 2025, when she was diagnosed with a stress fracture in her ankle six weeks before...but she was able to defer her place to this year.
After the complete devastation and realising she could now not complete the marathon, she was determined to mark marathon day in some way!
So, Lynsey will now complete a 26.2 km ‘Marathon Push’ in her local neighbourhood in a wheelchair. Her friends and family are taking turns to push her one kilometre each. Together, they will complete the entire distance as a shared challenge.
Lynsey’s daughter Brooke is also stepping up in her own incredible way. Inspired by her mum’s determination, Brooke will be taking on the TCS London Mini Marathon, on Saturday 25 April.
“Not being able to run the London Marathon is incredibly tough,” Lynsey said. “But I still want to do something meaningful on the day and continue supporting UCLH Charity, especially after the care my dad received. This challenge felt like the right way to do that - and to do it with the people who have supported me throughout. I’m also really excited to watch Brooke cross the marathon finish line and get her medal.”
Lynsey’s route will pass through Ampthill, Maulden, Water End, Greenfield and Flitwick, before returning to Ampthill. Each kilometre is expected to take between 10 and 15 minutes, with the full challenge taking around six and a half hours. If you are in the local area, please show your support for Lynsey - the route follows mainly footpaths, and everyone will be in high‑visibility clothing.
So far, her fundraising page has raised £2,691…but both Lynsey and Brooke are hoping to increase this with the Mini Marathon and Marathon Push this weekend!
You can support Lynsey and Brooke via their JustGiving page.
Thank you so much to the unstoppable Lynsey, the amazing Brooke, and everyone supporting them. Together we can do more.
