Tuesday 12 May was International Nurses' Day, a particularly special event as 2020 marks the WHO international year of the nurse and midwife. This is to mark 200 years since the birth of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale, and to recognise the enormous contribution both professions make to global health.
UCLH Charity supports a wide range of projects in order to develop and nurture the dedicated nursing staff at our hospitals. These include funding a nursing research journal, an apprenticeship scheme and a retention scheme to help nurses change area of specialty or focus, but stay at UCLH.
On International Nurses' Day we provided refreshements and treats to take time out to highlight and celebrate nursing.
Happy International Nurses' Day to nurses at UCLH, and indeed across the NHS, we are very proud to support you!
