Supporting patients, staff and research at UCLH

Bring the colour - for a brighter children’s emergency department

Help us make the UCLH children's emergency department a brighter, more welcoming space to be

Home Support our funds Bring the colour - for a brighter children’s emergency department

Our world class doctors, nurses and specialist teams do all they can to provide the best care for the children in our emergency department. We want to create a healthcare environment that incorporates art, play areas, soft furnishings and lighting design to create a warm and welcoming space where young patients feel more at ease. This could help distract them from their situation, avoid the need for heavy anaesthetics and allow staff to focus their resources on the greatest need. It will also help to alleviate the anxiety and worry of young patients and their carers when visiting the emergency department.

The current emergency department has not been designed with these young people in mind. We aspire to create a special area to help children and young patients feel more at ease when they attend. This is above and beyond what the NHS can fund.

"My idea is that we could make this hospital better for children by making the waiting room colourful like a rainbow!" - young patient

UCLH Charity supports many children's projects at UCLH such as play therapy for young patients, refurbishing children's areas, buying cutting-edge diagnostic equipment and funding child-based research. We now need your support to Bring the Colour to our children's emergency department.
