UCLH Charity is delighted to launch ‘A Slice of Support’, a new initiative delivered in partnership with ICCO Pizza, bringing weekly pizza gatherings to patients across UCLH.

The first pizzas were donated by the local, family run pizzeria restaurant, ICCO Pizza, earlier this month and will now take place every week. The pizza gatherings provide teenage and young patients with an opportunity to get together and enjoy moments of normality, offering a welcome break from the busy hospital environment. Crucially, it gives them something positive to look forward to.

The pizzas that are provided have been enjoyed by all young people on the ward. It is great to be able to offer pizzas to them, at a time where they may not be feeling too well. I feel this offers them some normality and perhaps takes their mind off what is going on for them. Thank you ICCO!” - youth support coordinator

“The pizzas that are provided have been enjoyed by all young people on the ward. All the patients have been happy to receive the tasty pizzas. They look forward to the pizza on the Tuesday, as it is something different for them to eat, compared to the usual. It gives them a sense of normality. Thank you very much for the Pizzas ICCO!” - senior healthcare play specialist

“A huge thank you to everyone involved in donating and delivering the pizzas to the hospital. Your generosity and kindness brought smiles to the faces of our young patients and made a real difference to their day. We are incredibly grateful for your support and for helping to brighten the hospital experience for the children and young people” - play services team

Jonathan Roberts, corporate fundraising manager at UCLH Charity said: “We’re incredibly grateful to ICCO Pizza for their generosity and commitment to supporting UCLH patients. A Slice of Support is about more than pizza, it’s about creating moments of comfort, connection and joy at a time when they’re needed most.”

ICCO Pizza said: “At ICCO Pizza, we’ve always believed pizza has a way of bringing people together. Through the ‘A Slice of Support’ initiative, we’re proud to support patients at UCLH. Hospital environments can be challenging for everyone involved, and if a simple slice of pizza can bring a small moment of comfort for patients, then we’re honoured to play a small part in supporting the community around the hospital.”

We would like to thank ICCO Pizza for helping make ‘A Slice of Support’ possible.
